Iranian News Censors Michelle Obama’s Oscar Gown

"It's no surprise that some in the Middle East were not happy about the movie "Argo," which focuses on the Iranian hostage crisis which lasted from 1979 to 1981. But this is a reaction no one was expecting.

During Sunday's Academy Award's telecast, First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance, handing out the award for Best Picture via satellite from the White House. However, the Iranian news agency Fars not only took exception to the honors bestowed on Ben Affleck's film, which won the night's biggest award, they offered a less-than-subtle critique of the First Lady's dress.

Since Mrs. Obama's gown exposed her shoulders in a way that would violate the codes of modesty enforced in many Muslim nations, Fars photoshopped a picture of the First Lady, with the result offering significantly more coverage of her shoulders and chest. The digital alteration was discovered by photojournalist and blogger Golnaz Esfandiari.

Fars didn't stop with altering Mrs. Obama's gown. The news agency also slammed "Argo" as an "anti-Iran film … produced by the Zionist company Warner Bros." Iran's state own television network also gave the film a thumbs-down, calling it "an advertisement for the CIA."

A report by The London Times pointed out that "Argo" has been banned in Iran, but bootleggers have been selling DVD copies though underground networks, fetching roughly a dollar apiece for the movie.

After this, don't expect Fars to be invited to do red carpet coverage of the Oscars in 2014."

Kidnapped French Family Taken To Nigeria- Cameroonian Govt

Cameroon’s government is claiming that kidnappers who seized seven members of a French family, including four young children, in Cameroon, have taken them across the border into Nigeria.

The family – a couple, their children aged 5, 8, 10 and 12 and an uncle – were snatched by six gunmen on three motorbikes  at Sabongari, 7km from the northern village of Dabanga near the Nigerian border yesterday.

A source close to the French embassy in Cameroon says that the abducted family had earlier visited Waza national park in the north of the country.

French President Francois Hollande said during a visit to Athens that he had been informed of the kidnapping, suspected to have been carried out by a Nigerian terrorist group.

The abduction of the holiday makers comes amid fears of Islamist reprisals over France’s military offensive against Al-Qaeda-linked groups in Mali.

The French embassy in Yaoundé yesterday advised all French nationals in Cameroon’s northern border areas to stay indoors.

Goldie just came back from the US today he said, and was so full of life, then something went tragically wrong. Will get all the details from him in a bit, he was crying so much and had to switch off his phone. I'm shaking so bad. She and I had a conversation a few days ago while she was in the US. Oh dear Lord. Is this how people die? May her soul rest in peace..Amen.

Stephen Keshi tells African radio station he has quit as Nigeria coach

Comes only a day after Nigeria's Africa Cup of Nations victory
Tensions between Keshi and NFF believed to be to blame

Stephen Keshi has told a South African radio station that he has resigned as the Nigeria coach, less than 24 hours after leading his country to the Africa Cup of Nations title.

The Super Eagles edged out Burkina Faso 1-0 in Sunday's final to become the African champions for the third time but it appears prior tensions between Keshi and the Nigerian Football Federation have led to his exit.

Keshi appeared on Metro FM, part of public broadcaster SABC on Monday, and said he had informed the NFF of his decision following the match. The Metro FM presenter Robert Marawa tweeted: "Stephen Keshi has just announced that he handed over his resignation letter after the game exclusively on 083Sport@6 With Marawa on MetroFM".

Keshi had revealed tensions between himself and the NFF before the semi-finals of the tournament, telling a press conference he would "pack his bags and leave" if he felt unwanted.

According to reports, Nigerian officials had booked a flight home for the squad, due to depart immediately after their quarter-final against the tournament favourites Ivory Coast – seen by Keshi as a vote of no confidence. Nigeria won the match 2-1.

Keshi, only the second man to win the Africa Cup of Nations as a player and a coach, said after victory in the final that he wanted to see other African countries give local coaches a chance rather than continuing to import from abroad.

Pope Resigns: The Head Of The Catholic Church To Step Down On Feb

via SaharaReporters

The Vatican has announced that Pope Benedict XVI  will resign on Feb. 28 setting the stage for the election of a new pope by March 2013.

The 85 year old pontiff released a statement today saying he was too old to carry on his papal duties.

 Full text of Pope's declaration

Dear Brothers,
I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering.

However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.

Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.

From the Vatican, 10 February 2013

How to pack MAN style

Came across this Amazing Video on How to Pack......Its really Amazing!!

Thursday, 7 February 2013

“When NOSA’s first single “Always Pray For You” hit the airwaves, it quickly gathered rave reviews with blogs like NotjustOK gushing about him with the words “it’s not everyday we hear a Nigerian artiste sing in pijin (sic) English and make it sound simply amazing”.

On Thursday, February 7, NOSA and our favourite Blogs will be teaming up for the exclusive video premiere of the well-received track “Always Pray For You”. The EP features a bonus track “Star”, which further solidifies NOSA’sposition as a mainstay in the Nigerian Music Industry.

NOSA’s love for music began as a member of the children’s church choir. As his passion grew, so did his interest in music production and song writing. NOSA soon graduated from writing a few lines here and there to recording full-fledged tracks, experimenting with various forms of music – gospel, highlife, R&B and jazz. His ability infuse various local languages with attractive melodies has carved him a niche sound that cannot be replicated. Today, as a devoted and full-time Minister, his songs continue to inspire many with words of hope and promote awareness to incite change.”

MIDDI whose real name is Moyinoluwa Adebayo is one of Nigeria's promising rap prospects. MIDDI entered the world of music thanks to his musical influences Big Sean, Wizkid & Sauce Kid (now known as Sinzu). He entered the professional arena of Hip Hop in 2011 through rappers Fearless and M-Flow. While on the move with M-Flow, one of Nigeria's top Hip Hop producers Ex-O heard his rhyme and was impressed. MIDDI remembers Ex-O's exact words clearly. "You are talented and very different, don't change your style and keep doing your thing" said Ex- O. These words of encouragement inspired MIDDI. A few weeks later MIDDI got a call from M-Flow saying that frequent Ex-O collaborator Kay-L was interested in signing him. In a short time MIDDI became the second artiste to be signed on the newly formed OIP Records.
