Producer: Claim of Obama-Satan likeness nonsense

Washington (CNN) - The third episode of the History Channel's miniseries “The Bible” was supposed to be remembered for the brutality of Babylonian ruler Nebuchadnezzar, the strength of Daniel in the lion’s den, and the birth of Jesus Christ.

But after viewers claimed there was a striking resemblance between Satan’s human form and President Barack Obama, that probably won't be the case.
Buzz on Twitter quickly grew. According to Topsy.com on Monday, there were an estimated 20,000 tweets containing the words “Obama” and “Satan” since the 9:00 p.m. ET hour on Sunday, the hour in which Satan appears in the two-hour show.
In a statement, miniseries producer Mark Burnett called claims there was a resemblance "utter nonsense."
Burnett said the actor who played Satan, Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni, "is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics –including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President."
Ouazanni has had roles in two biblical TV movies  "Jeremiah" and "The Ten Commandments."
Executive producer of the miniseries Roma Downey, Burnett's wife, added, "Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible."
Satan appears during the miniseries’ retelling of the Temptation of Christ, when Jesus fasted for 40 days in the Judean Desert. Satan tests Jesus’ faith, asking him to make bread out of stone and jump from a cliff, but he refuses each temptation and returns to the Sea of Galilee to begin his ministry.
In the desert, Satan is draped in a long, black, hooded robe and with a slight silver tint to his face.
Both Downey and Burnett supported Obama's first campaign for president in 2008, according to Federal Election Commission reports. Downey gave $5,000 to the Obama Victory Fund and $2,700 to the Democratic National Committee in 2008. Burnett also donated to Obama's first campaign  $2,300 in 2007.
Neither gave money to Obama's 2012 campaign.
While the show was airing, tweets poured in noting the resemblance.

VIDEO: CON.tra.diction – Fimisile

[PICTURE] : Where’s the consistency? Nani got sent off for Manchester United, Martinez escaped with a yellow for Bayern Munich

Manchester United winger Luis Nani been sent off last week for an unintentional challenge against Arbeloa during the Champions League round of 16 clash at Old Trafford. According to referee Cuneyt Cakir, it was a dangerous and high foot challenge hence the Turkish ref gave Nani a straight red without hesitation.

This week the same incident happened infact it was far more dangerous as Javi Martinez of Bayern Munich made a terrible high foot tackle on Arsenal’s Tomas Rosicky but the Spanish midfielder only received a yellow card for his reckless challenge. Now where’s the consistency among the referees ?

How come one referee gave a straight red for an unintentional challenge(Nani didn’t aware of Arbeloa) and in the other hand a dangerous reckless challenge(Martinez was aware of Rosicky) been cautioned with a yellow card by another referee ?

Argentina's Jorge Mario Bergoglio elected Pope Francis I

Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio has greeted crowds in Rome's St Peter's Square after his election as the Catholic Church's new Pope.

Appearing on a balcony over the square, he asked the faithful to pray for him. Cheers erupted as he gave a blessing.
The first Latin American and the first Jesuit to be pontiff, he will call himself Francis I.
An hour earlier, white smoke from the Sistine Chapel chimney announced the new Pope's election.
Pope Francis, 76, replaces Benedict XVI, who resigned last month at the age of 85, saying he was not strong enough to lead the Church.
He has telephoned Benedict and is planning to meet him, a Vatican spokesman was quoted as saying.
Pope Francis began his address to the crowds by offering a prayer for this predecessor.
He went on to ask the crowd to "pray to God so that he can bless me," before calling on the world to set off on a path of love and fraternity.

Rome conclave: New Pope chosen by cardinals

White smoke billowing from the Sistine Chapel chimney has announced to the world that cardinals gathered inside have elected a new Pope to head the Catholic Church.

White smoke from Sistine Chapel chimney - 13 March

Crowds in St Peter's Square cheered and bells rang out as the smoke appeared.

The name of the new Pope is expected to be announced shortly.

He will replace Pope Benedict XVI, who stepped down last month saying he was no longer strong enough to lead the Church.

The 115 cardinals have been in isolation since Tuesday afternoon, and held four inconclusive votes before electing a Pope.

Before the conclave began, there was no clear frontrunner to replace Benedict.

Rome conclave: Cardinals voting again on new Pope

Black smoke issues from Sistine Chapel chimney

Catholic cardinals meeting at the Vatican have been holding another round of voting to choose a new Pope.

The session in the Sistine Chapel follows two inconclusive rounds on Wednesday morning, and there is no sign of a positive result so far.

Cardinals are meeting for a second day to choose a successor to Pope Benedict, who resigned last month.

The 115 electors are to remain isolated until two-thirds agree a leader for the world's 1.2 billion Catholics.

A panorama of multi-coloured umbrellas massed on St Peter's Square on Wednesday morning as pilgrims braved tempestuous conditions to take up their smoke-watch vigil.

The faithful huddled in their plastic ponchos - it's been a bumper time for street-hawkers selling plastic sheets and cheap brollies.

Eyes darted between the rust-coloured chimney stack on the Sistine Chapel and the big screens dotted around the square.

Some carrying bedraggled national flags were backing their country's favourites. Some were praying for peace and unity in the Church.

Others still just wished the cardinals would clear out of the Sistine Chapel so they could get a glimpse of Michelangelo's Last Judgement.

The good news: After a third round of voting, smoke billowed from the chimney at 11:38 (10:38 GMT). The bad news: It was black. No Pope. Veteran Vatican watchers urge patience. For chimney-watchers on the square, the vigil goes on.

Ponchos and prayer on St Peter's Square
The cardinals will vote four times daily until a single candidate garners a two-thirds majority.

A successful vote would immediately be followed by white smoke from a chimney on the roof and, soon afterwards, the Latin announcement "Habemus Papam" - we have a Pope.

Black smoke indicates no pope has yet been chosen.

Before the conclave began there was no clear frontrunner to replace Benedict XVI.

The 85-year-old stepped down last month, saying he was no longer strong enough to lead the Church, which is beset by problems ranging from a worldwide scandal over child sex abuse to allegations of corruption at the Vatican Bank.

Good news: Bee venom kills HIV – New study

A new study has shown that bee venom can kill the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have demonstrated that a toxin called melittin found in bee venom can destroy HIV by poking holes in the envelope surrounding the virus, according to a news release sent out by Washington University.
Nanoparticles smaller than HIV were infused with the bee venom toxin, explains U.S. News & World Report. A “protective bumper” was added to the nanoparticle’s surface, allowing it to bounce off normal cells and leave them intact. Normal cells are larger than HIV, so the nanoparticles target HIV, which is so small it fits between the bumpers.
“Melittin on the nanoparticles fuses with the viral envelope,” said research instructor Joshua L. Hood, MD, PhD, via the news release. “The melittin forms little pore-like attack complexes and ruptures the envelope, stripping it off the virus.” Adding, “We are attacking an inherent physical property of HIV. Theoretically, there isn’t any way for the virus to adapt to that. The virus has to have a protective coat, a double-layered membrane that covers the virus.”
This revelation can lead to the development of a vaginal gel to prevent the spread of HIV and, it seems, an intravenous treatment to help those already infected. “Our hope is that in places where HIV is running rampant, people could use this gel as a preventive measure to stop the initial infection,” said Hood.
The bee venom HIV study was published on Thursday in the journal Antiviral Therapy, according to U.S. News & World Report.
This study comes on the heels of news that a Mississippi baby with HIV has apparently been cured. The mother was diagnosed with HIV during labor and the baby received a three-drug treatment just 30 hours after birth, before tests confirmed the infant was infected. The child, now 2 years old, has been off medication for about a year and shows no sign of infection.
More than 34 million people are living with HIV/AIDS worldwide, according to amFAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. Of these, 3.3 million are under the age of 15 years old. Each day, almost 7,000 people contract HIV around the globe.
